How do I stretch my leave around the 2027 public holidays in Singapore?

Take leave on the working days between public holidays and weekends to join them into one break. MOM’s list for 2027 has 11 gazetted public holidays. Our illustration, on a Monday-to-Friday week: Hari Raya Haji is Monday 17 May 2027 and Vesak Day is Thursday 20 May. Leave on 18, 19 and 21 May makes one run from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 May: 4 weekend days, 2 holidays and 3 leave days, 9 days off in all.

Which dates are the 2027 public holidays?

MOM lists 11 gazetted days. By our count seven fall on a weekday, three on a Saturday (6 February, 1 May and 25 December) and one on a Sunday (7 February). The list with weekdays, as MOM prints it, is above this guide.

Is Monday 8 February 2027 a public holiday?

MOM words this in two ways, and the planner does not decide between them: its checkbox starts unticked, and the Monday counts only if you tick it. MOM’s public holidays page says: “Monday, 8 February 2027, will be a public holiday if your rest day falls on 7 February 2027.” The footnote to the 2027 press release says: “Monday, 8 Feb 2027, will be a public holiday.” The entitlement and pay page says what happens when a holiday falls on a rest day: its wording is beside the checkbox.

Which long weekends does Singapore have in 2027?

By our count a Monday-to-Friday week has four three-day weekends in 2027 with no leave: 1 to 3 January, 26 to 28 March, 15 to 17 May and 7 to 9 August. A fifth, 6 to 8 February, exists only if you count Monday 8 February. For a Saturday holiday in a 5-day week, MOM’s entitlement page says “you should get either a day off or salary in lieu”. MOM’s pages do not state on which date a day off in lieu of a Saturday holiday falls, or who chooses between a day off and salary in lieu. The planner counts no extra day off for Labour Day or Christmas Day, both on a Saturday. On a Monday-to-Saturday week those Saturdays are working days, so each holiday is a day off.

How does the planner count days off in a row?

Days off in a row are weekend days, public holidays and leave days in an unbroken run. The longest break must include a public holiday on a day you would otherwise work. Bridge blocks join two stretches off by taking leave on every working day between them, ranked by days off per leave day (our convention).

What does this calculator not do?

It models only Monday-to-Friday and Monday-to-Saturday weeks, each with Sunday as the rest day: 5.5-day weeks, half-day Saturdays, shift rosters and company holidays are not modelled. It does not know your leave balance or whether leave will be approved, and it does not guess the two points above that MOM’s pages leave unstated. It does not work out pay. It covers 2027 only; for the 2026 year-end weekend see our Christmas 2026 long weekend plan, and for the dates our 2027 public holidays and long weekends page.
