Singapore public holidays 2027, as MOM lists them, are 11 gazetted days, from New Year’s Day on Friday 1 January 2027 to Christmas Day on Saturday 25 December 2027. Two holidays are left in 2026: Deepavali on Sunday 8 November, where MOM’s page says Monday 9 November will be a public holiday “if your rest day falls on 8 November 2026”, and Christmas Day on Friday 25 December.

By our count, 2027 has four three-day weekends with no condition attached for people who work Monday to Friday and rest on Sunday, a fifth (6 to 8 February) if you count Monday 8 February, and three midweek holidays that one or two days of leave can stretch into longer breaks. The dates and weekdays are MOM’s; the long-weekend runs and the leave arithmetic are our own derivation, labelled as such. This page is dated 17 October 2026 and reflects MOM’s holiday page as last updated on 19 June 2026, so recheck MOM before you pay for anything non-refundable.

  • Source and date: MOM’s public holidays page (last updated 19 June 2026), MOM’s Public Holidays for 2027 release of 18 June 2026 (last updated 23 July 2026), its Public Holidays for 2026 release of 16 June 2025 (last updated 29 July 2025) and its entitlement and pay page (last updated 30 July 2025). MOE’s releases for 2027 (14 July 2026) and 2026 (30 July 2025) are used only to quote their wording on the Monday holidays.
  • Left in 2026: Deepavali (Sunday 8 November, with Monday 9 November worded two ways, see below) and Christmas Day (Friday 25 December).
  • 2027: 11 gazetted days. Monday 8 February 2027 is also worded two ways; we quote both and do not choose between them.
  • On weekends in 2027: Chinese New Year (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February), Labour Day (Saturday 1 May) and Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December).
  • Our count: four three-day weekends in 2027 with no condition attached (1 to 3 January, 26 to 28 March, 15 to 17 May, 7 to 9 August) and a fifth, 6 to 8 February, if you count Monday 8 February, for a Monday-to-Friday week with a Sunday rest day. The two Saturday holidays add none by themselves; MOM says a 5-day-week employee should get a day off or salary in lieu.
  • Next break: Saturday 7 to Monday 9 November 2026 for people whose rest day is Sunday (our derivation from MOM’s Deepavali note).

What public holidays are left in 2026?

Two remain after 17 October 2026, both listed on MOM’s page:

  • Deepavali, Sunday 8 November 2026. MOM’s page says: “Monday, 9 November 2026, will be a public holiday if your rest day falls on 8 November 2026.” MOM’s 2026 press release puts it without the condition in a footnote (“Monday, 9 Nov 2026, will be a public holiday”), as does MOE’s 2026 school terms and holidays release (“Monday, 9 November 2026 will be a public holiday”). For a Monday-to-Friday worker with a Sunday rest day, all three give Saturday 7 to Monday 9 November as a three-day weekend (our derivation).
  • Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026. Our derivation: Friday 25 to Sunday 27 December is a three-day weekend for the same worker. New Year’s Day follows on Friday 1 January 2027.

If you are hosting over either weekend, our guides cover the Deepavali open house hosting guide and the Christmas get-together on a long weekend. For going out rather than hosting, see the Little India light-up visit guide.

What are the Singapore public holidays in 2027?

MOM publishes these dates with the weekday beside each one:

  • Friday 1 January 2027: New Year’s Day.
  • Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February 2027: Chinese New Year. Monday 8 February 2027 is worded two ways (see “How do Sunday and Saturday holidays work?”).
  • Wednesday 10 March 2027: Hari Raya Puasa.
  • Friday 26 March 2027: Good Friday.
  • Saturday 1 May 2027: Labour Day.
  • Monday 17 May 2027: Hari Raya Haji.
  • Thursday 20 May 2027: Vesak Day.
  • Monday 9 August 2027: National Day.
  • Thursday 28 October 2027: Deepavali.
  • Saturday 25 December 2027: Christmas Day.

Counting Chinese New Year as two days gives MOM’s 11 gazetted public holidays. The 11 dates do not include Monday 8 February.

Which 2027 holidays make a long weekend?

These runs are our derivation from MOM’s dates. They assume a 5-day work week with Saturday as a non-working day and Sunday as the rest day, the pattern MOM uses in its examples; shift workers and anyone with a different rest day will see different runs. A long weekend here means three or more days off in a row from a holiday and the weekend, with no leave.

  • Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January: New Year’s Day on a Friday.
  • Saturday 6 to Monday 8 February: Chinese New Year on the weekend, with Monday 8 February as the Monday holiday that MOM’s page gives someone whose rest day is Sunday (MOM’s press release and MOE word it without the condition).
  • Friday 26 to Sunday 28 March: Good Friday.
  • Saturday 15 to Monday 17 May: Hari Raya Haji on a Monday.
  • Saturday 7 to Monday 9 August: National Day on a Monday.

Three holidays fall midweek and need leave to join a weekend: Hari Raya Puasa (Wednesday 10 March), Vesak Day (Thursday 20 May) and Deepavali (Thursday 28 October). Two fall on a Saturday, Labour Day (1 May) and Christmas Day (25 December). MOM does not name a Monday for those; its entitlement page says that for a 5-day-week employee, a holiday on a Saturday means you should get either a day off or salary in lieu, and it does not say which day or who chooses. We therefore count no long weekend from them. Schools differ: MOE’s 2027 release names Monday 3 May and Monday 27 December 2027 as designated days off-in-lieu when schools, including Student Care Centres and KCare Centres, close, but they are not on MOM’s list of public holidays.

How much leave do you need to stretch the 2027 holidays?

Counting consecutive days off, with the arithmetic shown (our derivation, same 5-day-week assumption):

  • Hari Raya Puasa: take Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 March to get Saturday 6 to Wednesday 10 March, 5 days for 2 days of leave. Taking Thursday 11 and Friday 12 March instead gives Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 March, also 5 days for 2.
  • Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day, one week: take Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 and Friday 21 May to get Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 May, 9 days for 3 days of leave.
  • Vesak Day alone: take Friday 21 May for Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 May, 4 days for 1 day of leave.
  • Deepavali: take Friday 29 October for Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 October, 4 days for 1 day of leave.
  • Chinese New Year: take Friday 5 February for Friday 5 to Monday 8 February, 4 days for 1 day of leave, for someone whose rest day is Sunday.
  • Year-end 2026 to 2027: Christmas Day (Friday 25 December 2026) and New Year’s Day (Friday 1 January 2027) are a week apart. Taking Monday 28 to Thursday 31 December gives Friday 25 December to Sunday 3 January, 10 days for 4 days of leave.

Whether leave is approved on those days is for you and your employer, so treat these as a menu to discuss, not entitlements. To try your own number of leave days, our free leave planner for 2027 lists the longest break and the bridge blocks for 1 to 10 leave days on a Monday-to-Friday or Monday-to-Saturday week, and counts Monday 8 February only if you tick it. Our date calculator counts Singapore working days between two dates with MOM’s 2026 and 2027 holidays; on its Monday-to-Friday week it treats Sunday as the rest day, as MOM’s entitlement page does for a 5-day week, so it removes Monday 9 November 2026 and Monday 8 February 2027.

How do Sunday and Saturday holidays work?

For holidays that fall on a Sunday, MOM’s holiday page words the Monday as conditional on your rest day. It does this for Vesak Day (31 May 2026, Monday 1 June), National Day (9 August 2026, Monday 10 August), Deepavali (8 November 2026, Monday 9 November) and Chinese New Year 2027 (7 February, Monday 8 February).

Monday 8 February 2027 is the date where the official wordings differ, and we do not decide between them:

  • MOM’s public holidays page (last updated 19 June 2026): “Monday, 8 February 2027, will be a public holiday if your rest day falls on 7 February 2027.”
  • MOM’s press release of 18 June 2026 (last updated 23 July 2026): a footnote to the Chinese New Year entry says “Monday, 8 Feb 2027, will be a public holiday.”
  • MOE’s School Terms and Holidays for 2027 (published 14 July 2026): a footnote says “Monday 8 February will be a public holiday.”

None of the pages explains the difference. If your rest day is Sunday, all three give you the Monday; if it is another day, ask your employer or MOM. The same pattern appears for Monday 9 November 2026, where MOM’s holiday page is conditional while MOM’s 2026 press release and MOE’s 2026 release are not.

MOM’s entitlement and pay page explains the rules for people covered by the Employment Act. If a holiday falls on your rest day, the following working day is a paid public holiday. For someone on a 5-day week, Saturday is the non-working day and Sunday the rest day, and for a holiday on the non-working day you should get either a day off or salary in lieu. If you work on a public holiday, by default your employer should pay an extra day’s pay. The 2027 release adds that employees covered by the Act are entitled to 11 paid public holidays. If you are not covered by the Act, MOM says your terms follow your employment contract. This is general information, not employment advice.

Could any of these dates change?

The dates here are the ones MOM published on 18 June 2026 and shows on its holiday page, last updated 19 June 2026. Apart from a “Subject to confirmation” footnote on the two Hari Raya dates of 2026 in MOM’s 2026 press release, both now past, none of the MOM pages read for this page carries a note about possible changes, so there is no MOM wording to quote either way. Before you pay for non-refundable flights or hotels, reopen MOM’s page and compare its “Last Updated” date with 19 June 2026. Recheck the two 2026 entries before Deepavali on 8 November 2026; this page’s 2026 section will be out of date after Christmas Day on 25 December 2026.

Common questions

What is the next long weekend in Singapore after 17 October 2026?

Saturday 7 to Monday 9 November 2026, for people whose rest day is Sunday. MOM’s page says Monday 9 November will be a public holiday “if your rest day falls on 8 November 2026”, the day of Deepavali, while MOM’s 2026 press release and MOE’s 2026 release say it will be one without that condition. The next after that is Friday 25 to Sunday 27 December 2026 (our derivation).

Is Monday 8 February 2027 a public holiday?

MOM’s press release and MOE’s 2027 release both say Monday 8 February 2027 will be a public holiday, while MOM’s public holidays page says it will be one “if your rest day falls on 7 February 2027”. If your rest day is Sunday, all three give you the Monday. We do not decide between the wordings for other rest days, so ask your employer or MOM.

How many public holidays does Singapore have in 2027?

MOM’s release lists 11 gazetted public holidays for 2027, counting Chinese New Year as two days (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February). The 11 dates do not include Monday 8 February, which appears only in a footnote.

Is Labour Day 2027 on a weekday?

No. MOM lists Labour Day on Saturday 1 May 2027. For someone on a 5-day week, MOM’s entitlement page says a holiday on Saturday, the non-working day, should bring either a day off or salary in lieu, so ask your employer which applies.
